Here is how to apply for the ACT Houston program. . .

You can begin the ACT Houston program at any time! Our Preparation Program Institutes are offered several times throughout the year. Both daytime and evening schedules are available.

So when is the best time to get started?  Right now!  You can get started now – not by sending us your application or money first, but by scheduling an appointment to meet with us personally.

Get Started! The first step is to call the ACT Houston office nearest you to schedule an appointment:
Houston - 832-200-0552 ext. 235
Dallas/Ft. Worth - 214-267-2222
Austin - 1-877-286-0024

You will speak personally with an ACT Houston staff member who will . . .

  • answer your questions,
  • provide information about the ACT Houston program for alternative certification, and
  • find a convenient time for you to meet with us as soon as possible. ACT Houston works with degreed adults whose goal is to become certified teachers and are eager to get started! We don’t want you to have to wait!

What you need! Be sure to bring the following things to your appointment:

  • Your university transcript(s) showing ALL coursework with grades and credits earned, as well as the date your degree was conferred. Please bring official transcripts!  NOTE:  If you attended more than one university, make sure that the transfer coursework (course titles, grades, and credits) is shown on your transcript.  Otherwise, you will need to bring in trancripts from all colleges/universities.
  • Your completed ACT Houston application. You can download it here.
