Rookies of the Year

ACT Houston works with all public school districts, charter schools, and accredited private schools in the Greater Houston area.  The ACT Houston high quality preparation program for teacher certification has produced award-winning teachers.  Congratulations to the following Rookie Teachers of the Year!

2009-2010 Rookies:
Congratulations to Catherine Clay!  Catherine was named the "Rookie of the Year" for Wells Middle School in Spring ISD.  Catherine is a 6th grade science teacher. 

Give a round of applause to Jessica Weber!  Jessica was selected as the "Rookie of the Year" for Kimmie Brown Elementary in Dayton ISD.  What an honor for Jessica who teaches 4th grade!

Shout out a cheer of congratulations to Christina Colquitt, 7th grade reading teacher at Pearland Jr. High East in Pearland ISD.  Christina has been honored as the "Rookie Teacher of the Year" for her campus!

Congratulations to Sandy Coombs who was named Special Education teacher of the month for February, 2010, at Austin High School in Ft. Bend ISD!  Besides receiving a gift card, Sandy was also honored with a reserved parking space for the month.

Congratulations to Edith Fatile, who is a Life Skills teacher at Schmaltz Elementary in Katy ISD.  Edith has been named the First-Year Teacher of the Year!  What a wonderful honor!

Congratulations to Tarvia Lucas, who was honored as the Rookie Teacher of the Year at Missouri City Middle School in Ft. Bend ISD.  Tarvia is an outstanding math teacher. 

A big round of applause goes to Danielle LaSaint, who was honored as the Rookie Teacher of the Year at Blue Ridge Elementary School in Ft. Bend ISD.  Danielle teaches math and loves each day in the classroom with her students.

2008-2009 Rookies:
Let's give a big round of applause to Candace Browning, who was honored on the last day of school as the Teacher of the Year for Matagorda Elementary in Matagorda ISD.  Congratuations, Candace!  Candace teaches 4-6 grade.

Congratulations to Tamisha Brooks!  Tamisha is the Teacher of the Year for Powell Point Elementary in Kendleton ISD.

For the first time, Deer Park ISD has elected "New Teachers of the Year."  Amanda Whatley, fifth grade teacher at Deer Park Elementary, has been honored with this award.  Let's shout out our congratulations to Amanda on receiving this honor!

The Rookie of the Year at Royalwood Elementary in Sheldon has just been selected.  Let's applaud for Nadia Campbell.  Congratulations, Nadia!

Congratulations to Ustacyous (Stacy) Eagleton who has been selected as the Rookie of the Year!  Stacy teaches math at Crosby Middle School in Crosby ISD. 

Outstanding!  Robert Seibert has been named the 2009 Rookie Teacher of the Year for his campus.  Robert teaches 6th grade English Languages Arts at Cobb in Galena Park ISD and is recognized for his use of technology in the classroom.  Congratulations! 

Congratulations to Damion Presley!  Damion has been honored as the 2009 Rookie of the Year for his campus.  Damion teaches math at Bammel Middle School in Spring ISD. 

Congratulations to Amey Francis, 3rd grade teacher at E. A. Jones Elementary in Fort Bend ISD!  Amey has been selected as the Rookie of the Year for your campus.  Yea! 

Congratulations to Diana Kutsko, science teacher at Sartartia Middle School!  Diana was a finalist for Fort Bend ISD Rookie of the Year!  We know that Diana's parents who are both teachers are thrilled with her award.  We are too!

Let's give a big round of applause to Wade Kirkpatrick, science teacher at Lake Olympia Middle School in Fort Bend ISD, who was named 2008-09 Rookie of the Year for his campus.  Wade has now been honored as the District Rookie of the Year for Secondary Schools!  Wade and the other Ft. Bend ISD Rookies of the Year were honored by the Sugar Land Rotary Club on March 25th on Sugar Land Rotary Teacher Appreciation Day.  Congratulations on this outstanding achievement! 

Congratulations to Rachel Bryant who was honored as the Rookie Teacher of the Year for 2008-09 at Sugar Land Middle School in Fort Bend ISD.  Rachel teaches Exploratory Languages and Teen Leadership. 

Sharee Shepherd, 7th grade science teacher at Berry Miller Junior High School in Pearland ISD, has been named the New Teacher of the Year for 2008-09.  Congratulations to Sharee on this wonderful honor!

A huge hurrah goes out to Kevin Miller for being selected and the one and only District Rookie Teacher of the Year for Galena Park ISD. This is the second year in a row that the District Rookie of the Year has been an act houston intern. We are so proud!
